Project “Report on current ways for the determining of wages of MPs and delegates in parliamentary bodies of B&H with the recommendation for the establishment of a long-term model” ends successfully

From December 1, 2009, to May 31, 2010, Center for Research and Studies GEA successfully realized the project “Report on current ways for the determining of wages of MPs and delegates in parliamentary bodies of B&H with the recommendation for the establishment of a long-term model”, supported by Center for Civil Initiatives (CCI), under the Civil Advocacy Partnership Program (CAPP) II.

Among other, this project resulted in:

–  performed analysis of the existing wage-setting models for members of parliaments in EU and Western Balkan countries and their comparison with models in the Republic of Srpska and the Federation of B&H, as well as with the model of the B&H Parilament;

–  proposed new model for setting wages, which would eliminate the negative aspects of the current model and which would increase transparency and effectiveness of the entire process;

–  public advocacy for the new model performed in the media and in parliaments at the level of entities and state;

–  three presentations of the proposed wage-setting model held within entity parliaments and the Parliament of B&H;

Over 20 models of setting wages of parliament members in 20 EU and Balkan countries analyzed during research and preparation of the report. Therefore, the report contains a comparative analysis of models in B&H and in the region.
